Both intra national and international commercial logistics require viable and stable means to transport goods and people.

In spite of a further significant increase in the volume of procurement during 2004, the Procurement Service has worked hard to reduce the lead times for goods and services being provided to peacekeeping missions during the reporting period.

Work is also under way to validate our procurement system to ensure that it meets the highest global standards and to develop policy guidance on the provision of pro bono goods and services.

The final pillar is the government services supply chain, by which central and local officials affect every link of production, logistics, and financial networks through regulations, taxes, or permits.

The replacement of routine manual jobs by machines and robots is a powerful, continuing, and perhaps accelerating trend in manufacturing and logistics, while networks of computers are replacing routine white collar jobs in information processing.

Most of the logistic heavy lifting for electoral support is carried out using logistic resources of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

Responsible for all procurement of goods and services, both locally and regionally, within the terms of the authority specifically delegated to the mission and according to all relevant rules, regulations and guidelines.

In accordance with sound banking principles, the IsDB has put in place detailed business guidelines and procedures applicable to the procurement of goods and services, disbursement of funds and dealing with counterparties.

So successful industrial upgrading and economic diversification requires first movers, and improvements in skills, logistics, transportation, access to finance, and various other changes, many of which are beyond the first movers capacity.
