The city is officially bilingual (the biggest bilingual city in Switzerland).

Posters in the streets of Beirut carry one word, in two languages the truth, al haqiqa.

Few countries have given the training of bilingual indigenous teachers the priority it merits.

One serious problem is the lack of well trained indigenous teachers who are bilingual.

Still, only a couple of villages with large Polish minorities have bilingual signs (Vendryně Wędrynia for instance).

The erection of bilingual signs has technically been permitted since 2001, if a minority constitutes 10 of the population of a municipality.

Curriculum content and teaching methods adapted to indigenous cultures were designed, and readers were produced in most indigenous languages, but the training of bilingual teachers was inadequate.

The Committee also welcomes the fact that, according to law 10.406 02, indigenous people are no longer considered relatively incapable citizens . It also welcomes the efforts made by the State party to stimulate bilingual education.
