Although the responsibility of industrialized countries and emerging economies in the battle against carbon emissions is now well known, Africa s place in the climate agenda has been largely neglected.

Air pollution1 results primarily from the combustion of fossil fuels in transportation and power generation, from various industrial emissions and from large scale biomass burning in some parts of the world.
