Recognizing with deep appreciation that Mr. Malloch Brown made the Millennium Development Goals the hallmark and centrepiece of all UNDP programmes,

Targeting decisions are made drawing together all available information on each individual target.

Identifying objectives and strategies towards achieving these objectives are concrete steps towards the achievement of the group's overall goal.

Sustainability indicators and monitoring Indicators can be used to set targets for policies and to measure success in achieving them.

First, these are, obviously, good minimum development and social goals.

The MDGs were effective in part because the number of targets was limited. So it is reasonable to consider how many targets we could measure properly, rather than how to collect data on a large number of them.
