The Executive Secretaries responded to queries raised.

Black secretaries could not work for white professionals.

In the view of the Executive Secretaries, the two issues are interlinked.

Recommendation 7 was better use of the Board of Trustees .

The Board of Trustees examined 63 applications and recommended 25 project grants.

The Trustees serve as the focal point for women issues throughout the Administration.

In the seminars, the Trustees learn about feminism, stereotypes, affirmative action and relevant legislation.

Contributions that cannot be recorded prior to the eleventh session of the Board of Trustees will be considered at its next annual session.

As the implementation of this recommendation requires advice from the Board of Trustees, it will need to be considered by the Board at its next session.

Some new contributions and pledges have been made for the eleventh session of the Board of Trustees (see annex II, sects. B and C).

In this connection, the Executive Secretaries agreed that sustained economic growth and institutional changes as well as targeted employment and social policies are necessary.

Likewise, the implementation of this recommendation will require guidance from the Board of Trustees, and a background paper will be prepared for its next session.

The recommendations for grants adopted by the Board of Trustees at that session will be submitted for approval to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, on behalf of the Secretary General.

The Legislative Council comprises the Speaker, three ex officio members (the Chief Secretary, the Financial Secretary and the Attorney General) and 12 elected members.
