Conscious of the need to achieve greater coherence and effectiveness in the implementation of the Habitat Agenda, the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium and the relevant internationally agreed development goals, including those contained in the Millennium Declaration,

Instead, the time has come for this great Organization to strengthen and rededicate itself in order to effectively and efficiently meet the challenges of the new millennium.

As yet, no actual programme has been developed to implement the National Disability Policy or the Biwako Millennium Framework for Action.

9. Reiterates the invitation to Governments and Habitat Agenda partners to facilitate the dissemination of the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium

At its twenty fifth special session, in 2001, the Assembly adopted the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium (resolution S 25 2).

Reiterating that strengthened international cooperation is an essential element for the effective implementation of the Habitat Agenda and the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium,

9. Invites Governments and the Habitat Agenda partners, including local authorities, to facilitate the dissemination of the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium

The much larger US fiscal deficits of the new millennium, courtesy of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, portend large and indefinite trade deficits.

In a highly evolved global community, and especially in this new millennium, it is high time that massive killings and crimes against humanity become things of the past.

Let future generations remember this moment as a time when world leaders rose to the occasion to lay the foundation for a healthy and progressive global village this remains our destination in the new millennium.

In that context, the September summit will provide a special opportunity for an objective analysis of our Organization's functioning after 60 years of existence and for the adoption of the bold new normative and institutional measures needed to adapt the unique tool that is the United Nations to the challenges brought by the new millennium.

11. Encourages Governments and their Habitat Agenda partners to evaluate and report to UN Habitat on their implementation of the Habitat Agenda and the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium

The UN Millennium Project Task Force recommends that developing countries should focus on platform technologies that have broad applications or impacts in the economy, such as information and communications technology (ICT), biotechnology, and new materials.

The Bush administration has put outright grants at the center of its foreign assistance policy, a commitment that is embodied in its new aid agency, the Millennium Challenge Account.

Family alone demands enough from an individual, but in this new millennium where more than one individual or spouse is working to support a family, the demands of upholding family life and maintaining a career or job are immense.

Mongolia warmly appreciates the determination and commitment of the Secretary General to better equip the world Organization to meet the challenges and threats of the new millennium, and it welcomes his comprehensive report as a sound basis for our further consultations and negotiation.
