Human rights situation in OPT

The route of the barrier in this area cuts deeply into occupied Palestinian territory.

But violence has continued in the occupied Palestinian territory, in Israel and in Lebanon.

The year 2006 will be critical for elections in Israel and in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Children born in OPT to a parent who is a resident of East Jerusalem and a parent who is a resident of OPT are forbidden under this law to live in Jerusalem with their family.

Ms. Dairiam welcomed the delegation's statement that it had not relinquished all its responsibilities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The news of the currently escalating violence in the occupied Palestinian territories was therefore highly regrettable and distressing.

It is with this realization that I use the mandate entrusted to me to assess the impact of conflict and occupation in the OPT.

Perhaps the most important factor has been the continuation and, at times, acceleration of Israeli settlement activities in occupied Palestinian territories.

As a consequence, the Occupied Palestinian Territory was once again regarded as a war torn economy .

The witness highlighted the fact that the world media did not pay enough attention to the human rights situation in OPT.

(j) Pursue its efforts in relation to the implementation of the road map, in particular the withdrawal of its military presence within OPT and the occupied Syrian Golan.

In this context, freedom of movement must be allowed to United Nations staff and other humanitarian agencies operating in the OPT.
